About Us
Red Wheelbarrow Produce is located 10 miles Northeast of Sandpoint, in the Selle Valley. In this, our first year of production, we hope to get accustomed to the land, the rhythm of growing food, and set our standards high in quality and service. We are not certified organic simply because we believe that it is not necessary on such a small scale--if you'd like to know our practices, just ask. If you'd like to visit our farm, or give a hand harvesting to see what it's all about, just ask. For the record, though, we use sustainable practices, including NO chemicals or poisons of any sort. You can also find us at the Farmers' Market this year if you'd like to meet us or try our produce. We have been working on organic farms around the country for over a decade collectively, and are finally collaborating to start our own farm. Dave is a skilled boat builder and timber framer, and lived on 100-acre Mandala Farm in Gouldsboro, Maine for seven years. Emily has worked on farms in Minnesota and in Sandpoint, and is passionate about the local food movement.

Practices (our standards for raising or making our products)
We grow our produce using sustainable practices to the best of our abilities and knowledge. We feed our soil, not just our plants, by utilizing cover crops, compost, mulches, and organic amendments. We pay close attention to the 1/2 acre we cultivate, planting intensively and planning crop rotations to keep our soils healthy. This is our first year, so I cannot expound more now, except to say that we would not put anything on our vegetables you wouldn't want to eat!
