About Us
Muskrat Hill Farm is located on five acres above Muskrat Lake in the Gypsy Bay area of Sagle. It has been our long term plan to use our land in an environmentally and economically sustainable manner to produce a quality product and provide supplemental income for our retirement. For the past three years we have concentrated on improving the soil of our planned growing area by the use of cover crops and green and animal manures. We have also fed a lot of deer. The deer fence is up and it is now time to harvest something besides rocks and roots. We have conducted extensive trial plantings to determine what does best in our area. Through the use of shade cloth, row covers, and our greenhouse and hoop house, we hope to extend our harvesting season to at least ten months of the year.

Practices (our standards for raising or making our products)
All products are naturally grown using sustainable, organic practices. We use no pesticides, herbicides or chemical fertilizers. Soil amendments, if used, meet organic standards. So far we have successfully controlled disease and insect damage by crop rotation, companion planting, row covers, encouragement of beneficial insects, and removal of infected leaves or plants. Voles and gophers are trapped. If additional measures are required, organic standards will be followed. We eat this stuff too.
Wonderful spinach! And the flats of tomatoes you listed last fall were flawless - sweet & beautiful for fresh eating and canning. Thanks, Chris & Ron!
