“Local food cooperative”, “year-round farmers’ market,” “local food distribution service,” however you’d like to think of it, Six Rivers Market simply wants to provide the Idaho Panhandle an easy way to find local food year round and enable local producers an efficient way to market their goods.
Our mission is: to preserve and promote local agriculture while providing the community with a vibrant and convenient year-round home-grown food source. Our goal is to join our community together in providing food for one another.
Please share your comments and ideas with us here--this is YOUR cooperative, please do what you can to help us grow.
If you are not yet a member, and would like to learn more or join, please visit our website at www.sixriversmarket.org. Only $25 a year to shop the cooperative, that's only $2.09 a month to help ensure your local food supply for years to come.
I hope that Six Rivers can continue. Right now I'm unable to participate . . . but I hope that I can again soon.
ReplyDeleteI think I average buying 20.00 a week per year, thus far, but that might slow down some as I have lots of frozen meats right now, seems I am not eating them up as fast as I hoped. I would still love to feature my cards, but would only do so if I can do a month by month basis since I cannot commit to the producers fee upfront on a product that is hard to view on the internet and so particular to each buyer to buy. I still think by having this option smaller producers may like to join in and give selling their product through Six Rivers. I will do what I can to keep Six Rivers going, I love being able to get the products that are featured. I think the main key is to get more members signed on and doing a fund raiser would be a great way to get seen by the community and generate some income. These can be done maybe twice a year. My garden club did a used book sales (smaller community then Sandpoint) once a year and we signed on lots of new members at that time. A fund raiser can include items that one can buy as a member and/or flyers of what is available, but should also include other nice donated items that would be appealing to the community/tourists to buy. Even some like new otherwise garage sale items would be okay too. You know those nice things you just don't use anymore so you donate them.
