New Managers, Software and Products!

Meet Matt & Jennifer Wier! Matt and Jennifer will be joining Six Rivers Market starting June 15th as our new Market Managers. Matt will be the main contact with Jennifer filling in as needed. You can best reach them via email at: info@sixriversmarket.org Matt and Jen Wier moved to Sandpoint in December 2009 from the Seattle area. They were interested in living in a small town with a great community spirit. Jen has previously been an administrative assistant, worked in the hospitality industry, and has also studied culinary arts in school. The last of which introduced her into a world of local food and sustainability. Matt has a Bachelor’s degree in Business, experience as a project manager, and spent time as a market manager and farmhand for one of Growing Washington’s organic vegetable farms. The time on the farm helped solidify his love of growing good food and the satisfaction of seeing others enjoy it. Together, they hope to bring their passion and excitement to Six Rivers Market and are looking forward to being a part of the local food movement in Sandpoint. See you on market day! New Software Coming Soon! Please Watch for Changes... The new Local Food Software should be live within the next few weeks. We'll all be able to enjoy a number of new features, including easy check-out and online payment, emails sent only to those who have ordered (or Producers who have orders), simple navigation and ease of use. This software will be a tremendous asset to Six Rivers Market and should help the cooperative grow and expand. We will send additional information before the new system goes live. Click here to see everything! Eat Local Day The next Eat Local Day is set for Sunday, July 3 (or a day close to it). Join other Six Rivers Market members by committing to eat an all-local meal at least once a month. Spend just $10 on local food, this one day a month, and collectively we can make a BIG difference! This month's recipe is for a Berry Pancake Puff. Berry Pancake PuffA Ingredients 3 Tbs. butter, melted and divided 1 cup Springs of Hope Milk 6 fresh eggs 1 cup all-purpose flour 1/2 tsp. salt 2 Tbs. powdered sugar Berry Topping 3 cups fresh berries (coming soon!) 1/3 cup fruit preserves Lemon juice and sugar to taste Directions Preheat oven to 450 degrees. For berry topping, gently stir together berries and preserves. Set aside. For pancake, brush a deep baking dish with 1 tablespoon of butter. In mixing bowl, combine milk, eggs, and remaining butter. Whisk. Continue whisking and slowly add combined flour and salt until egg mixture is smooth. Pour batter into baking dish. Bake 13 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to 350 degrees and continue baking 15-17 minutes or until sides are crisp and golden brown. Remove pancake from oven; immediately sprinkle with powdered sugar. Fill center with berry topping. New Software in the Works

The Board is pleased to announce that Six Rivers Market will soon be converting to a new software! If you are familiar with the current system, you know it works, but it's definitely quirky! The new system will be much more fluid, intuitive, and all-around just easier to use. It should be a clean transition, with all data converted to the new system before we make the new system live. We'll keep you posted on any changes that will affect customers and/or producers directly. In the meantime, here are the highlights of the Local Food Marketplace software which we'll be converting to:

• Easy to navigate with product menu available throughout the system
• Traditional shopping cart system, with ability to add multiple quantities when adding items to cart.
• Product reviews can be made by each product.
• No log in required until checking out!
  
• Suggested items shown according to what's in the shopping cart.
  
• Easy checkout with credit card (or still pay via check or cash upon delivery).
  
• System automatically sends reminders to only the consumers and producers who have orders.
• Ongoing technical support and upgrades.
• Saves significant management costs.

Karen Cline Delivery

Starting the week of May 25^th, 2011 you can now order delivery to your home or office! Six Rivers Market member Karen Cline has begun to offer delivery each Wednesday as a new “product.” She’s been trialing the service a bit in April and is ready to kick off her deliveries in full force starting Wednesday, May 25^th. Karen currently offers delivery as far as Coeur d’Alene, and offers special rates to coordinated hubs. Below you'll find a current list of delivery types and rates. Delivery within Bonner County - $1.00/mile
You will be billed for mileage (5 - 30 miles). (one-way) Let Karen pick up your order for you! Delivery on Wednesdays between 3:30 and 6:30 PM. Six Rivers Market has a few more changes on the horizon, most noticably is our change in management. Harmony Libby did an amazing job as Market Manager this past year, going above and beyond to keep Six Rivers Market rolling each week, always with her big, memorable smile. Thank you, Harmony, we appreciate all your work!

Meadow Summers, founder of Six Rivers Market, will be filling in for Harmony over the next few months as the new Board begins the hiring process for a new manager. To better focus on the management transition, Meadow will be easing out of her work with the board.

The Six Rivers Market board welcomes two new fantastic members, Ron Kilgore of Muskrat Farm and Cindy Peer, already proving to be a fantastic volunteer. Ron and Cindy will be filling in board positions held by Mya Sanger and Doug Schabell, of Windrush Farm. Doug recently sold his farm and moved from North Idaho. Both were incredible assets to the board. Thank you so much, Mya and Doug!
